Sometimes there are life experiences that turn your world inside out and upside down and rock you to the very core. Such an event, happened to our family on the evening of April 27, 2000. As we were leaving the Chevys Restaurant in Sandy, Utah, following a family birthday celebration ... a young man went on a violent shooting spree. The shootings resulted in the deaths of two people and the physical and emotional injury of many others. My husband, Peter, died a victim of homicide that night.

A series of newspaper articles written by Lucinda Dillon Kinkead of the Deseret News is currently the most comprehensive account of the shootings and its aftermath. Lucy was truly remarkable in her efforts to accurately and compassionately share the story of the many victims. For now, I'll let Lucy detail our family's trauma.

These articles ran September 14 -17, 2003. Once you link to a main article listed below you'll find additional links to quotes and related articles.
